I have teenage daughter who does not “fit” in with your average teens. She just did not have a place in the world of friends; until I started her on the simple craft of working with beads. Now she is queen of earrings, bracelets, chokers, necklaces and key rings. Adults even come to her to fix things and gather around to make their own. Teaching is part of her learning to communicate better with others. She started small and now asks for beads for Christmas, birthdays and buys her own. Giving my child the ability to have a “spot” in life made her self-esteem just reach for the sky. Every child needs a “spot”.
