Practice these Safe Driving Tips for Teens:
- Know your state’s laws.
- Don’t flaunt your driving skills. For the first 6 months drive with an experienced friend or family member.
- Be alert and courteous.
- Keep the stereo down.
- Do not use your cell phone while driving or the shoulder of the road for cell phone use. Exit off the highway and into a safe place such as a parking lot.
- Buckle Up – Driver and passengers.
- Never drive impaired.
It is suggested that teens as well as adults take a Defensive Driving course. Studies show that teens pick up driving practices from their parents and friends. For additional information on defensive driving courses contact your local State Police or Highway Patrol department.
